GENRE: women’s fiction/romance

PUBLISHER: Soul Mate Publishing: http://www.soulmatepublishing.com/the-promise-of-change/

SYNOPSIS:

Sarah Edwards loves stability, but now finds life has other plans for her. Divorced, bored, and twitchy, she’s convinced her impulsive, sometimes irrational decisions are the sign of a mid-life crisis, and the contradictory actions and emotions are giving her family and friends mental whiplash. Her abrupt resignation from her job is the final straw. But a two-week trip to England seems the perfect pick-me-up for this Anglophile and Austenite.

Enter Alex Fraser, a.k.a. the Earl of Rutherford, who although a member of the lucky sperm club, prefers to be known for what he’s accomplished, rather than a fate of birth. Despite his family’s disapproval, he is determined to work in his chosen profession of acting. He’s always preferred casual flings with beautiful women who have no illusions of marriage. That is until he literally bumps into Sarah in an Oxford pub.

Despite an idyllic week together, Sarah gets cold feet and returns to the States determined to come back down to reality. A year later, the realization of Sarah’s life-long dream unexpectedly brings Alex back into her life, in what she believes is an ironic twist of fate. Will Sarah’s decisions leave her life in shambles, or will they lead to the promise of change?

“The novel is riveted with allusions to Austen and readers will see a plot unfold that is not unlike a storyline from Austen; some pride, a little deception and plenty of romance fill these pages, making the novel a fun read.” –Rachel Sale, INsite Magazine

http://www.insitegainesville.com/blog/2012/04/the-promise-of-change-book-review/

“Author Rebecca Heflin gives the reader much pause for thought as betrayals come full circle, misunderstandings come to light, promises are broken and others are made proving that The Promise of Change is the promise of excitement, great things to come and what’s more a great novel that promises to keep the reader riveted to the printed page until the final scene is played or in this case written.” — Fran Lewis

SYNOPSIS:

In 2009, New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James took a leap that many people dream about: she sold her house, took a sabbatical from her job as a Shakespeare professor, and moved her family to Paris. “Paris in Love: A Memoir” chronicles her joyful year in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

With no classes to teach, no committee meetings to attend, no lawn to mow or cars to park, Eloisa revels in the ordinary pleasures of life—discovering corner museums that tourists overlook, chronicling Frenchwomen’s sartorial triumphs, walking from one end of Paris to another. She copes with her Italian husband’s notions of quality time; her two hilarious children, ages eleven and fifteen, as they navigate schools—not to mention puberty—in a foreign language; and her mother-in-law Marina’s raised eyebrow in the kitchen (even as Marina overfeeds Milo, the family dog).

“Paris in Love” invites the reader into the life of a most enchanting family, framed by la ville de l’amour.

STELLAR REVIEWS FOR “PARIS IN LOVE”:

“After fighting cancer, James took a sabbatical from her university job as a professor and Shakespeare scholar to spend a year in Paris with her husband and two kids. In this delightful charm-bracelet of a memoir, James, also the author of 20 romance novels, offers quirky, often laugh-out-loud funny snapshots of her adventures as an American suddenly immersed in all things French-food, clothes, joie de vivre. Her portrait of her family is equally lighthearted, and her reference guide is indispensable.” – People Magazine, 4 of 4 stars

“Eloisa James’ enchanting memoir about living in France for a year features a funny fat Chihuahua named Milo, enormous chunks of dark delicious chocolate, American and French culture-clashing, and, of course, the envy-inducing éclat of elegant French females… Written like a spool of lovely prose haiku, Paris in Love gives the reader a sense of being immersed along with James in Paris for the year rather than reading her memories. As if in real time, you see the rain, taste the food, observe the people…In the end, Paris in Love isn’t about going abroad, it’s about making the most of the time we’re given in life. This would make a lovely Mother’s Day gift.” – USA Today

“Paris in Love: A Memoir is a series of charming outtakes…including [Eloisa's] children’s initial struggles and later triumphs in school, as well as her own increasingly bold forays into French-ness, from food and flea markets to embracing her femininity—where better than Paris to rediscover the pleasures of lingerie, post-mastectomy (and reconstructive surgery)? Along the way, James savors the moments of dissonance and satisfaction that come from the shared adventure of figuring out life in another country.” – Vogue.

“Written with a dry sense of wit and an elegant sense of style, James’ literary love letter to the City of Light is inspiring and insightful.” – Chicago Tribune

“[James's] online musings on food, fashion, and family became the basis for this chronicle of an unforgettable year in Paris, where, without the constant claims of academic life and the rigorous demands of the publishing treadmill, James rediscovered the simple pleasures of life. Her chic, charming, and completely captivating memoir of a healing year in the City of Light is bound to inspire readers to dream of setting off on their own escapes.” – Bookscan

“What a beautiful and delightful tasting menu of a book: the kids, the plump little dog, the Italian husband. Reading this memoir was like wandering through a Parisian patisserie in a dream.” – Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love

AUTHOR BIO

New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James writes historical romances for HarperCollins Publishers. Her novels have been published to great acclaim. A reviewer from USA Today wrote of Eloisa’s very first book that she “found herself devouring the book like a dieter with a Hershey bar”; later People Magazine raved that “romance writing does not get much better than this.” Her novels have repeatedly received starred reviews from Publishers’ Weekly and Library Journal and regularly appear on the best-seller lists.

After graduating from Harvard University, Eloisa got an M.Phil. from Oxford University, a Ph.D. from Yale and eventually became a Shakespeare professor, publishing an academic book with Oxford University Press. Currently she is an associate professor and head of the Creative Writing program at Fordham University in New York City. Her “double life” is a source of fascination to the media and her readers. In her professorial guise, she’s written a New York Times op-ed defending romance, as well as articles published everywhere from women’s magazines such as More to writers’ journals such as the Romance Writers’ Report.

SYNOPSIS:

Leif Dæganssen, an archeologist from Norway, is determined to trace back his Scandinavian roots as far as the Dark Ages and find proof of their existence on the Emerald Isle. After several years of living off the west coast of Ireland, he finally uncovers an ancient artifact—an intricately decorated chest with pagan carvings—buried beneath the very porch of his coastal cottage. Knowing it only confirms the presence of a glorified Norse-influenced settlement on Inis Mór, he’s determined to establish a link between himself and those who once inhabited the rugged isle.
For as long as she can remember, Lorraine O’Connor has had dreams of a Norse warrior kissing her. And even though she’s never fully understood the reason for her vivid subconscious imagination, she welcomes the meaningless and wanton pleasure of being in a Viking’s protective embrace—until the day she meets that brazen Northman on an impulsive vacation trip to Ireland.

Though blindsided by the relevance of her dreams and the strange familiarity of the man within them, Lorraine can’t help but feel a deep-seated intimacy toward Leif. And the more she gets to know him, the more she’s convinced they’ve shared a life together in a time long forgotten.

Are the clues to their ancestral past hidden within the contents of the chest or buried deep within their hearts?

REVIEWS:

“I didn’t believe it was possible to take Daegan and Mara’s incredible love story to another level, but I am extremely pleased to be wrong. The new paths with Leif and Lorraine and the journey back to some very memorable moments with Daegan and Mara are expertly crafted into one extraordinary story. The contemporary version of their fated and reincarnated love reads like new, but with a familiar comfort. All my senses were engaged upon reading this dramatic conclusion to the Emerald Isle Trilogy. The author is phenomenal in bringing to life the sights, sounds, and emotions through well researched descriptions and dialogue. Every word seemed to have a purpose in helping create a beautiful and poetic ending to an unforgettable trilogy. If you’ve never heard of the name Renee Vincent then you’re missing out on quality reading that’s worth every second of your undivided attention. It’s an escapists dream and I will most certainly be back for more.”
~ 5 Stars TOP PICK ~ Night Owl Reviews ~

“If I was told I only had one word to describe The Fall of Rain (the entire Emerald Island Trilogy, for that matter), it would have to be “FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!” This story deserves so much more than just a 5 star rating, in my opinion. Renee Vincent weaves a tale of everlasting love that transcends the boundaries of time, adding just the right twists and turns to keep you guessing. The Fall of Rain is the perfect ending, wrapping the entire trilogy up into one perfect package. I’m honestly sad that it’s over. I’m eagerly awaiting to see what literary gem Vincent has in store for us next.
5 Stars ~ Coffee Beans & Love Scenes  http://bit.ly/zDsWRY

“I know for myself I enjoyed the first two books very much. So much so, that I was excited for the third book to come out. Little did I know what book three really had in store for me. OMG doesn’t even cover it. This is my absolute most favorite book of this series. Where the first two take place deep in the past, book three finds us in the present time. How does that work, you may be asking . . . well, I would have never thought it possible until I read it for myself. Taking present time activities and adding in flashbacks from centuries past, this book offers the reader everything; drama, romance, comedy and even mystery. People and things aren’t always what they seem. In fact, you may walk away from this book never looking at that moment of déjà vu the same again. Maybe, just maybe when something feels right . . .we should remember, just who are we to question it? If you enjoy historical romances and love a story with men you would love to sink your teeth into, this is your series to get lost in. Not an ounce of disappointment to found in the pages of these books.”

“If you fell in love with Dægan in the book Ræliksen then you wont be disappointed when you read The Fall of Rain. You will fall in love with Leif too. I was crying happy tears when I finished reading this book. Author Renee Vincent made this Dægan Lover very happy. I’m very happy how she ended this wonderful trilogy.”

SNEAK PEEK:

“Will you be washing your hands of me now?”

His head fell and his shoulders dropped. How did he get so wrapped up in this woman, that any little thing she said sent his mind whirling and threw his self-control into a tizzy? He slowly turned around, forcing his line of sight to remain above her shoulders.

“I don’t think I could ever wash my hands of you, Rain.” He recalled the amazing day they had together, the conversation at the fort, the kiss at sunset, and the intimate shower they shared. “Not anymore.”

“Then why are you leaving?”

Leif crossed his arms, trying to remain poised. “Because I should. I came too close to having my way with you in the shower had it not been for the timely blast of cold water in the pipes.”

Lorraine melted him with her innocence. “You wanted to have your way with me in the shower?”

Leif couldn’t help but laugh. “Was it not obvious to you, then?” He glanced down at his tented towel “Or even now? Hell, if it were up to me at this very moment, I’d have already sprawled you out on the bed behind you.”

Warmth infused her cheeks and her eyes darkened. She chewed on her lip, pondering the scenario. The seconds lugged by, her reply hanging in the balance.

“Okay, that just came out.” He rubbed his hands down his face. “Obviously, that’s my libido talking and—”

“So, what’s stopping you, Leif?” Her hand came up to her chest and she untucked the towel at her breasts, letting it fall to the floor.

His mouth dropped open and his heartbeat kicked up a notch. Heat and blood and all things hormonal coursed through his veins. He couldn’t hold back even if his blasted conscience slipped in a last minute ethical reason for thinking twice. Her naked body, pleasantly dainty with soft curves in all the right places, spurred the animal inside him. She had given him permission to take her as he wanted, and that was all he needed to slam the door shut on morals and decency
