Spunky, opinionated Katie McCullough has worked for years with one goal in mind–to own the ancient lighthouse and its surrounding buildings in Paige Point, Maryland. With the lighthouse in her possession, she can finally provide a home for her and Pop, something she and her brother had always planned, establish her art business and maybe, if she’s lucky, reunite with the mystery sailor who stole her heart five years earlier. All she has to do is place the winning bid and the lighthouse is hers. She isn’t worried. Who in their right mind would want to own a compound of dilapidated buildings anyway?
Max Sawyer, that’s who. Confident and decisive, this former military officer isn’t used to having his orders disobeyed. As a developer who specializes in transforming historic properties into boutique hotels and resort spas, the lighthouse property is perfect for his plans. Except his plans for this one have absolutely nothing to do with hotels and everything to do with winning Katie and revealing to her his connection to her brother’s death five years earlier, an event that still haunts him.
Max’s winning bid collapses Katie’s world like a grass hut in a storm. She is heartbroken and outraged when she assumes her beautiful lighthouse property will be turned into a tourist attraction. Max’s bossy sure-of-himself attitude incites a rebellious mischief-making streak that leads Katie to stealthy systematic dismantling of both the houses on the property…and his plans. Unfortunately for Katie, she is caught and assigned community service, working for him.
However, Katie doesn’t know that Max is her mystery lighthouse sailor, the one man who captured her heart five years earlier; the one man who has since been the plumb line for every other unsuspecting male who has crossed her path. Unfortunately for Max, he doesn’t measure up either. So, as any former military officer would do, Max accepts her call to battle stations, outmaneuvering her at every turn, forcing her to accept him as a man and not a memory and placing Katie in a position where she has no choice but to surrender her heart.
Kat Cook from Forever Book Lover says, “First, You will love this book!! It was that good. The storyline was refreshing, it was a lovely tale proving once again that love triumphs despite obstacles along the way. If you are looking for a hot passionate romance book, you won’t find it in this but what you will find is a sweet romantic story of two people finding their way to one another. You will be delighted in the bantering between Katie and Max, you may even find yourself chuckling out loud a time or two.”
Victoria Teoh from Always A Book Lover, says, ”I really enjoyed Keeper Of My Heart. A sweet, easy read that is impossible not to like. Definitely a recommended read.”
Martha’s Bookshelf says: “The story is sweet and heartwarming and the writing has an easy, light flow. This is a quick read and solidly entertaining. This story brought my attention to the author and the publisher and I will be looking to read more from both.”
Heather Boustead’s Reviews says, “I thoroughly enjoyed this book because it was light and fun. Darcy Flynn did an amazing job describing her scenes, though I wish there had been more to a few of the scenes themselves. That notwithstanding, for being a shorter book I couldn’t put it down. I loved the romance between Max and Katie with kisses and simple affection, rather than the reliance upon more carnal scenes found in most romance novels.”
TJ says, “Ms. Flynn’s gift with the pen in describing the charm of the beautiful sea-side lighthouse and it’s properties makes one yearn for the salt-scented peace and warm community it invokes. The strength of the story comes from that warmth which threads through, not only the feel of area, but the very people and their interactions.”
Darcy was born into the rich culture of New Orleans, La. As a city filled with colorful historical intrigue and broad creative energy, her natural bent to the arts coupled with her love for one of the most romantic cities in the world has been the inspiration and anchor of her artistic multi-dimension endeavors. Darcy was always compelled by the need to express herself and like her mother’s famous gumbo, her previous expressions included a little bit of everything – art, music, acting and dance.
Although, published in music, art and the Christian non-fiction market under another identity, it was the empty nest that turned Darcy to writing romantic fiction. A lover of lighthouses, Darcy’s first novel, Keeper Of My Heart, unfolds in a small Maryland fishing village on the Chesapeake Bay.
Darcy, a former Mrs. Tennessee, continues to be surrounded by all things creative in Music City and when not in writing in her London flat, lives on a beautiful horse farm in historic- Franklin, Tennessee with her husband, son, two English Setters and a calico cat. Darcy enjoys stargazing, raising rare breed chickens and gardening.
